PEOPLE NEEDED TO TRANSPORT DOGS AND CATS
What are transports? Transports are organised groups of volunteers who rescue animals by moving them from a shelter in Florida to a rescue or home in another State.

Where do the pets come from? Some are from kill shelters where the animals life is in danger and are being moved to a no-kill rescue. Others are in rescues and have been found a home some distance away but it is too far for the adopter to transport the animal themselves.

How far do I have to drive? The journey is divided up into legs of about an hour. You can drive as many legs as you like. If you volunteer early the route can often be adjusted so that you can start and finish where it is convenient to you.

Do I get paid? No, it is totally voluntary. Some rescues will pay for your fuel if they are desperate to move some animals.

What happens if I volunteer to transport a dog and then change my mind? If a replacement driver cannot be found the transport will not take place and the pet may die! Please make sure that you are available on the date specified and that you and your vehicle are road worthy before volunteering. For more information please e-mail sfr@dogrescues.info

Rescuers in Need of Foster Homes in Jacksonville, FL
We need foster homes for special needs dogs and cats. Some are blind, some are deaf. Others are both blind and deaf. Also foster homes and permanent homes required for HIV positive cats. There has to be someone who has patience and time to spend with these wonderful, loving animals who need some extra help. If you have experience, that would be wonderful! We need help in Jacksonville, and all over Florida. Please, if you have love in your heart for animals, help us with these precious animals, so that they can live as normal a life as possible. For more information please e-mail sfr@dogrescues.info

What we do
Many unwanted pets are taken to county shelters where their life is in danger as soon as they enter the door. South Florida Rescue finds homes for unwanted, and homeless dogs and puppies, cats and kittens before they are taken to a kill shelter. Some of these pets are still in their homes, some are with rescues in foster homes or kennels.

These pets are in kennels, foster homes or their own homes in the South Florida area. We do not ship animals. If you cannot travel to meet the animal you will not be able to adopt it. If you would like to adopt a homeless pet or would like to more information about the available pets please E-mail: sfr@dogrescues.info
