Dogs stay in our kennels until they find a home and we pride ourselves on the fact that eventually they do find a suitable home. Many of our dogs are unclaimed strays from dog pounds in surrounding counties and in Wales. You can meet the dogs at the kennels during our normal opening hours and can walk them on the bridle path nearby. Binfield Dog Rescue survives on donations of food for the dogs and money to pay vet fees. If you would like to help a dog during it's stay with us please send a cheque or postal order for any amount or bring your food/money donation to our kennels. We also require old blankets, towels, sheets, quilts, pillows, Etc regardless of condition which we use as bedding for the dogs. Of course, any old dog items that you may no longer require such as beds, bowls, leads, toys, tennis balls, Etc are always welcome since some of the dogs destroy these! If you do not have transport to drive to Binfield Dog Rescue, you can help us by depositing your food donation in the collection bin at the ASDA Superstore, Chalfont Way, Lower Earley, Reading. It is a large black wheelie-bin with DOG painted on it near the checkout at the far end of the store. Dogs needing homes. Binfield Dog Rescue Maidenhead Road Billingbear Wokingham Near Reading Berkshire RG40 5RR Telephone: 01344 421490 (9am-4:30pm) NORMAL OPENING HOURS: Monday - Friday 1pm - 4:30pm Saturday 9am - 4:30pm Sunday 9am - 4pm Border Collie Rescue UK Binfield, Berks Border Collie Rescue UK has been set up by Gill White, from Border Collie Rescue, Reading, and Kathy Clements from Border Collie Rescue Wales. Gill and I have worked together for the past couple of years, previously I ran the West of England Border Collie Rescue in Bristol, until leaving to live in Wales. We care for between 20 - 30 dogs at anyone time, some are placed in foster homes, but most of the dogs are kept at Gills, sharing her house with her own dogs. There are kennels available at Gills if needed, but the kennels seldom seem to be used, and mostly the dogs are allowed a free rein within the house and the gardens. Gill has been involved with Border Collie Rescue for Twenty years. Kathy deals mainly with the Welsh Dogs, she has six of her own dogs, 5 Border Collies, and a Daschund, all rescue dogs. Kathy has worked her dogs in Open Obedience, but now prefers the fun of Agility. We have a brilliant Boarding Kennel who takes any emergencies for us, but mostly they stay with Kathy until they are transported to Reading. We try to re-home most of the Collies to Agility, Flyball, or Obedience homes, but will consider a pet home, depending on the temperament of individual dog. The dogs are also tested with sheep for their working ability. We have taken many Collies from Rescue Centres in Wales, and the Dog Warden is a friendly voice that we hear at least once or twice a week We ensure that all adopters are home checked, and follow up checks are also carried out, all persons adopting a dog from us enter into an adoption agreement, this clearly states what is expected from them in relation to the care of the adopted dog. If at any time we feel that the adoption agreement has been broken, then Border Collie Rescue UK will do everything in its power to have the dog returned to the rescue centre. For a large part of that time animals rescued by the Charity were kept at the home of Mrs Brimblecombe, who was awarded the MBE in 2001 for services to Animal Rescue. All the animals at DBARC are cared for by a dedicated team of staff, including both paid and voluntary team members, working under the guidance of our gifted and dedicated Manager who is an experienced and highly qualified Veterinary Nurse. Working in an Animal Rescue is demanding, and can be hard and upsetting at times, but is also tremendously rewarding and satisfying, as it is a real chance to make a difference. Although we only rarely have paid vacancies, we are always glad to welcome new volunteers, so if you feel able to help us in any way, please feel free to e-mail us to find out more. There are always animals to clean, feed and care for, and maybe just to be cuddled and made to feel special. There is ongoing maintenance and improvements to be made to the Centre itself. We are also desperate to expand our fund-raising activity, and there are endless administrative tasks too, so whatever you feel you can offer to help the animals, we would love to hear from you! The love and companionship an animal gives can often be vital to a person's well-being. Since the Centre opened in 2001 many older pets have been able to enjoy the unique facilities it has to offer. Many worry about their pets should anything happen to them, particularly when they have no family or friends able to help. The elderly pet owner can rest assured that, when the times comes, the National Animal Welfare Trust will look after their special "friend". Many have also been re-homed to some very special people and still have much love to give. Trindledown Farm provides a tranquil and caring home with, as far as is possible, the feel of a sitting room the doting owner has provided for years. Sofas, armchairs, television, radio and central heating are standard in all units. All this, plus the tender loving care of trained staff and helpers. Trindledown Farm is set in approximately ten acres, on the edge of the Lambourn Downs in Berkshire. It provides home from home comforts, with, eventually, its own modern veterinary unit to cater for all needs. Visitors and volunteers are welcome. Dogs needing homes. Nestling gently into the hillside in front of the kennels, the cattery boasts state-of-the-art facilities for our feline friends. The cattery is being named the Hoerner Cattery after recently retired Chairman and Trustee, John Hoerner, who dedicated 18 years to the Home. The new building also has public waiting and interview areas and, behind the scenes, a kitchen, laundry and large stores area. Separate from the main public area there are also isolation pens and maternity pens for mums and new-born kittens. Stokenchurch Dog Rescue Stokenchurch, Bucks Stokenchurch dog rescue (formerly known as The Dog Rescue and Welfare Society) was originally formed by local residents in 1963 to save the lives of stray and unwanted dogs, as well as those impounded by the Police. Since then many thousands of dogs have been brought to us and have been successfully re-homed. And, although the Police no longer take in ‘lost’ pets, we still provide this invaluable service to pet owners until they can be reunited with their much loved canine family member once again. We never destroy a healthy dog, believing that somewhere there is a kind and permanent home for every dog. We also take in and care for the sick, the old and the traumatised, and no dog in need is ever refused our help. If we have room, we offer them all a home and do everything within our power to rehabilitate them whenever possible, both physically and psychologically. We always have dogs of all ages, sizes and shapes, and all have different personalities, temperaments and needs. Some may need an extra-special new home, others may need owners with experience of their particular breed, and some may not be suitable to share a new home with small children. Always keeping our dogs’ characteristics and previous experiences in mind, we do our very best to match the right owner with the right dog on an individual basis. Click on the pink links for more information. Canine Crusaders Camborne, Cornwall Canine Crusaders was founded in February 2002 to try to improve dog welfare in Cornwall, and help reduce the number of dogs going needlessly into rescue. It is heartbreaking, and unbelievably frustrating to have so many requests for help and know that we can only tackle a tiny proportion, due to lack of funds, facilities and resources. We do what we can, but of course it isn't anywhere near enough. Every day we are asked to help between one and eight dogs. We have no kennels, so we rehome either by keeping the dogs in their existing homes or, if that isn't possible, using suitable foster homes as temporary holding points. All homes are fully checked, and full support is given. In some cases, we use local boarding kennels until the right home can be found for a dog. We are asked to take in strays, too, so we are always on the lookout for more foster homes. Fostering is a hugely rewarding, two-way process, with both dogs and foster carers benefitting from the experience. We do NOT have kennels at present. All dogs available for rehoming are temporarily in Foster Homes. If you are interested in rehoming a dog please telephone or Email us for further details. Foster and permanent homes URGENTLY needed! We are committed to providing the best environment possible for our animals with a superb 11 acre site. Each of the kennel units has an outdoor paddock and with our extensive grounds there is plenty of open space for dog walking. The cattery provides modern facilities with heated pods and outdoor runs for every cat. All the dogs and cats we re-home have had a full medical examination, are wormed, flea treated, fully vaccinated neutered and microchipped. Click on the pink links for more information. Pound Puppy Animal Rescue Poole, Dorset When Jayne discovered that puppies born in council pounds were being killed because they could not find homes for them she setup Pound Puppy Rescue. Having rescued the puppies she could not leave the hundreds of adult/ancient dogs and cats, and the kittens at the pounds to die just because they did not have a home to go to. Then she found that breeders would kill their rejects so she took those in too. AND then there are the other animals! We do not have a 'rescue centre'. The pets stay in foster homes looked after by our volunteers in the area around Poole, Bournemouth and Weymouth, Dorset until they find a suitable home. Hundreds of healthy dogs are being killed in Wales and Yorkshire every week for want of a home. I am told that some councils in Wales do not even try to rehome strays - if they are unclaimed after 7 days they are killed! If you think you can help by fostering a dog or cat, or fund raising or just advertising Pound Puppy Rescue in your local shop please phone 0773 6176613. Dogs needing homes. Foster Homes Wanted for Dogs and Puppies: We need people to look after dogs for a short while so that we can assess them before moving them to permanent homes. If we have nowhere to put the dogs we have to leave them at the pound - we do not have our own kennels. We prefer you to live in the area of Bournemouth, Poole, or Weymouth, Dorset, so that you are near our vet but we are currently looking for foster homes in the Newbury, Swindon, Chippenham, Andover and Basingstoke areas. You should be in most of the day so the dog it not left alone for long periods. You should not be house proud as dogs can shed hair, bring in mud, and may not be completely house trained. You should be fit enough to exercise the dog. If you would like more information please phone 0773 61756613. Basset Hound Welfare Dorset contact Basset Hound Welfare is an independent rescue and welfare charity for all Basset Hounds. Our objective is the resettlement of unwanted Basset Hounds and the counselling of owners who experience difficulties with their hounds. We aim to provide loving and permanent homes for those Basset Hounds whose owners, for whatever reason, can no longer keep them. They, the dispossessed, will need patience, love and security. If you can help in any way, please do contact us. We are occasionally looking for foster homes for elderly but fit hounds whose owners may not be able to keep them due, possibly, to their own ill health. Is there a spare place by your fireside? Dorset Greyhound Rescue Weymouth, Dorset Dorset Greyhound Rescue is based in Weymouth, however we are a sister branch of Clarks Farm Greyhound Rescue in Maldon, Essex. All our dogs go to Clarks Farm in the first instance where they will be assessed and recieve all/any veterinary treatment required (including neutering, vaccinations and microchipping). All dogs featured on this website are available for rehoming from both Clarks Farm Greyhound Rescue and Dorset Greyhound Rescue. All our dogs are neutered, micro-chipped, innoculated and have 4 weeks free pet insurance. They also come with a leather collar and lead, muzzle and bowl. All our greyhounds are assessed prior to being homed and we always try to ensure that we match the right dog to the right home environment. At any time after you take your greyhound home we are available for advice and any queries by phone and e-mail. For more information call us on 01305 834841.
