Kuranda Dog Beds
We have chosen Kuranda dog beds for our boarding facilities because they are so good for our dogs. We still don't have enough for all of our kennels. If you would like to donate a bed so another dog can sleep in proper comfort, please click here.

Hickory Hill Canine Rescue are a private rescue group that have been helping homeless dogs for 14 years. They are a 501c3 non-profit organisation and rescue dogs from the Hanover County Pound as well as Caroline and King William Pounds. If you would like to assist the animals in their care please send your donation to the above address or via PayPal by clicking here. Hickory Hill Canine Rescue is a 501c3, non profit organization which means your donations are tax deductible.

They also require old blankets, towels, sheets, quilts, pillows, Etc regardless of condition which we use as bedding for the dogs. Of course, any old dog items that you may no longer require such as beds, bowls, leads, toys, tennis balls, Etc are always welcome since some of the dogs destroy these!

Thank You for the Donations
Thank you to everyone who has ever donated food, animal supplies, time, money, old blankets, whatever to help a homeless animal. Millions of animals are dying all over the world each and every year. To any rescue organization your donations allow them to continue to rescue and care for some of these animals.

No Squeeky Toys Please
Toys that make a noise when you squeeze them can encourage some dogs to be aggressive towards young children because they squeek too. The device that makes the noise is usually small and can be harmful if swallowed. Some toys of this type contain a small battery which is poisonous if the dog eats it. The best toys are tuggers, tennis balls and hard chew toys that cannot be ripped apart.

Adopting a Friend
All of the Hickory Hill K-9 Rescue animals have a $100.00 adoption fee. All dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, current on all shots, heartworm negative and healthy before being available for adoption. This fee helps cover the veterinary costs and allows them to continue saving and caring for these unfortunate animals.

When looking for that new family member please remember to really think about the things you and your family want and need in a pet that fits the family lifestyle. Get to know your breeds! Some breeds require more space, exercise and circumstances than others. Even if you are going to adopt a mixed breed, look into what it's primary breed needs in a home, environment and exercise. Your new family member needs to be wanted by everyone in the family and included in your daily lives to be truly happy. Click here for more information on how to find the right dog.

The Beagles and Hounds that are safehoused with us are NOT hunting dogs. These are the ones that didn't hunt and were thrown away. They make wonderful pets and are excellent with children of all ages. Despite popular belief they do NOT bark all the time nor try to escape since they do not want to hunt. Consider a great natured Beagle or Hound as an addition to your family.
